overview

conference background

The Chinese government released a policy to allow commercial banks to provide offshore wealth management services to local clients at April 2006. Until April 2007, China Banking Regulatory Commission had approved 22 Chinese and foreign banks’ qualifications to launch offshore wealth management services for domestic clients. The products accumulated to 26 types with 21 phases in total. The sales amount reached about RMB 3.6 billion (USD 480 million). On 5th July this year, China Securities Regulatory Commission announced relevant rules that that allow local residents to invest in oversea stock markets through not only commercial banks, but also fund managers and securities companies. In above ways investors can share the relatively higher yield of offshore capital markets.

The first-ever QDII fund, China Southern Global Selection Fund received a huge subscription demand. The demand for offshore investments has been totally explored. Facing new wealth management products, investors may have great interests but still have some questions about the product s’ details. So, what are the strengths and risks of these QDII products? How do investors select those coming QDII products? Is there any advantage to invest offshore markets in the booming times of local A-share market?

According to this premise, the organization of this first-ever conference “Asset Management Forum 2007” will be a great platform and a distinguished meeting for local investors and international financial players to exchange ideas. In this conference, we will discuss the overseas investment opportunities, the development trends and product designs of QDII products. In this conference, we will discuss and exchange ideas with some experts on the issues about how to launch suitable investment products according to clients’ demands and the themes of marketing strategies.
